I am thinking that I do things that nobody else does, such as changing my mind 12 times before we actually stop to eat.
I am blaming that on my current job status, which is , well none.
Yes it is true for the first time in 40 years that I am unemployed.
Oh now do not feel sorry for me because it is basically my choice right now , and I am sure it will end quite soon.
I for sure needed a break and I got it and now I am ready to go.
One of the things I enjoy so much is writing. It relaxes me and allows me to be creative. Sometimes it is really good and sometimes it is just writing. So I have no guarantees. I will try and give an honest assessment and I will hope you smile a few times also.
So on to the review of Shanes Rib Shack.
We went for a ride yesterday and we were in one of those undecided of what we wanted for dinner. I could change that because Debbie would say that's fine to just about anywhere. It's John that sometimes has issues with where we eat. I won't even say how many times we stopped before we actually went in to somewhere.Maybe it's just my age catching up to me or maybe (probably) it could be that Covid has numbed my palate a bit.
So we drive for 20 minutes and end up at Shanes and I must admit, I was somewhat impressed.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile from a young woman , who quickly took our order. In ten minutes our food was brought to us with a smile (which is obviously nice) and even though she wasn't a true waitress because she handled the cash register and orders also, she checked on us throughout the meal.
I always start off with the sweet tea, and I will give this a perfect score on the Cordova growing up tea list. I mean how important is quality sweet tea to a meal. I rate it as really important.
The food however is more important and that is where Shanes hit a homer. The ribs and chicken and pulled pork all came out hot and steamy and full of flavor, while the fried okra and baked beans were almost cooked to perfection. The baked beans weren't just opening a can and eating them like I grew up eating, these things were seasoned.
I am confident that everyone would be pleased with this barbecue place and Shanes could be threatening several other barbecue place for the best in Macon.
Okay so the few non perfect things
We did get toasted bread with the meal and although it was toasted, it didn't have anything on it. We looked for the butter or the garlic and we could not find it. I don't know why they would toast it if they weren't going to put anything on it. Southern people want butter on the bread. Am I right ? I mean Waffle House butters the toast don't they ?
The only other thing was the fries were a little salty. Now if this writer says they were salty, you know they were salty, because I have been known to put salt on everything, including ice cream. Debbie could not believe I said something about something being salty.
I was also impressed that a manager walked through and asked if everything was okay. I think that is needed in these times.
Please feel free to share and help me build this into something and lets all have a great weekend.
