top 2o

I have been so lazy  blogging lately but I really cant call it overall lazy. I have been busy with about 5 other things I am working on and then yeah I have a real job that pays bills. But I know I need to do better and I am getting off to a great start on Monday with my second top 20 list for Macon high school basketball.
I will remind that if I cannot see stats on the max preps site then you are probably not getting more than one player recognized. It is just impossible to reach out to every coach in the area and after all, I am just a blogger and I don't want to be bothering folks.
Here we go
20) Kayden Lane- Covenants do all point guard is for real and could get minutes at most schools in the area. Most of Covenants basketball team from a year ago is playing somewhere else this year but Lane is keeping things together for the Rams.
20) Hey, I know I am doing two  for number 20, but so what, it is my blog, so I can do what I want. No one will complain about adding another kids name will they ? This spot goes to Windsor's Landry Rustin who is averaging 13 points a game while shooting 40% from the three line. He deserves to be here because Windsor is one of the three best teams in Macon.
19. Nathan Hunt- This young man is being asked to do a little of everything at Stratford right now with the departure of Nate Brooks, but the Eagles have continued to play hard, although not getting much as far as results go. If Stratford is going to win anymore this season, this is the guy who must get going.
18. TyRee Gilbert- He averages 18 points a game for a struggling Northeast team.
17.Darius Dunn- He averages 20 points a game for a struggling Northeast team
16.Maurice Gordon- FPD plays boring basketball but Michael Walton has them at 6-2 in the region heading into the final week. Maurice is a 10 point and 5 rebound guy and it will  be interesting to see how FPD fares in the region and state tournament.
15.Samone Reed- plays for the best team in Macon at Westside but has got lost in the shuffle as two other seniors on the team are shining. Still if this kid can get hot at the right time there is no telling how good his team can be.
14. Brandon Stewart_ One of the few bright spots for Howard as he has maintained his 13 points and 14 boards a  night average.
13.Deshon James- the Rutland post player is going 11 points a 8 rebounds a game as Rutland is having a pretty good year so far.
12.Adam Leverett- The MDS star has seen his average dip a little bit because he has three men on him all the time. Still he is averaging 18 points a game.
11.Dartavious Thompson_ 26 a game at CFCA, I know, I know, bit you cant fake 26 a game.
10.LaMontis Moore- He is Rutland's main guy at 18 ppg and has his team thinking state playoffs.
9.Armaun Smith_ The second FPD player on the list. He averages 13 ppg and his team is in a battle to win their region.
8. Trey Foster- 12 points a game playing behind the best player in the state isn't bad and it has earned him several offers, including Stetson. Westside is cruising along at 18-3 and have not missed a beat since they lost a 6'11 kid
7.JaiKez Mann- Yes he is at Windsor, but he was one of Rutlands best players a year ago. This kid can play at any level and I believe he will play a big part for Windsor as the seniors will go out with another state championship.
6.Calvin Slaughter- The Tattnall guard scored his 1000th point last week and if Tattnall is going anywhere in the playoffs he will need to get it going a little bit more than he has of late. Tattnall has the potential to make noise, but this young man must get in the mid season groove.
5. Marquise Jackson- yep another Windsor player. Why? Don't ask me that unless you have seen them play. He deserves every bit of it and so does his team. This kid has sacrificed the gaudy numbers he could be putting up and allows three guys to score in double figures. See him and the Knights play and then judge me.
4. Jimmy Marshall- Game winner at Wilco moves him up in my mind. He has been a consistent inside threat the entire year and he has to keep playing well for Tattnall to succeed. He plays like a D1 athlete, which he will be when he signs with MTSU on Wednesday.
3.Aaron Ridley- NO one else on Southwest scores in double figures so this guy has that pressure on him every night. He goes 22 and 9 on the season but the Patriots are in trouble at 3-6 in the region. Lets see what Aaron can do down the stretch.
2.Antarius McCoy- Only one Central player because I don't have stats on them but I know this guy well enough to know where he stands. He is a special kid who is the leader of a very good basketball team.
1. Khavon Moore- Ohio State visits and he goes for 53. Other best player leaves the team and they have no missed a beat. Welcome to Khavon's world, the best player maybe ever to come out of this city. If he isn't the best he is in the top 5 for sure, but please someone name someone that is more highly recruited than him from Macon . His team is 18-3, he is going 23 a night with 11 boards, yep life is good for Khavon right now.

On a personal not, I an still upset by the closing of LaBamba, my don't have to bathe to go eat a restaurant. It had the best Mexican in town and it is gone now for three week. I still drive by it and tear up. I am looking for another go to Mexican place. Any leads will be appreciated and considered.

top 20 high school basketball players in Macon

Everyone wants it
Everyone has been waiting for it
So Here it is
The only blog brave enough to give a top 20 boys players in the city
Now I will explain that if a roster is not up on Max Preps (Central) you will probably only get one player.
If you don't have stats up, you probably don't get as many players, unless I have seen you more than once. Sorry, but this is my passion and my hobby, but not my job.
So here we go with the top 20
20)I will give a number 20 ranking to Ty'Ree Gilbert from Northeast, a sophomore who is averaging 19 points a game. He is one of two sophomores on Northeast that makes the top 20/
19)Maurice Gordon from FPD. Gordon is having a solid season and the Vikings under Michael Walton are playing good basketball. They have a huge game on Tuesday against Tattnall Square, which I will attend.
18)Nathan Hunt- The former Covenant player turned Stratford Eagle looked great last week against Tattnall and will continue to get better when he learns what the new Stratford coach wants him to do.
17)Darius Dunn- He becomes the second Northeast player on the list by averaging 19 points a game as a sophomore. The Raiders however are 5-15 so I can give these kids any more love than this.
16)Samone Reed- The Westside senior is getting 9 points and 5 assists per game and will probably pick up his scoring as the season moves on. He is a threat even if he is not scoring.
15)Dartavious Thompson- Ok who has heard of him ? I am guessing nobody because he goes to CFCA. I don't care about that , if a kids can average 26 points a game a CFCA, he can average 13 to 15 anywhere and that includes Macon public schools.
14)Trey Foster- Foster is having a great year for Westside and he comes in at 11 points a game. Westside is coming along at 13-3 and they have a huge Tuesday game against Central. Take Westside in that one if you are a betting man.
13)Brandon Stewart from Howard. The Huskies are struggling but Stewart is averaging 13 points and 14 rebounds a game so he is doing his part. They play in a very tough region so things will probably not get much better.
12)DeShon James- I  have to give Rutland credit as they are trying to fight for a playoff birth. I have not seen them play but James is putting up 11 and 8 and keeping his team in ball games in the paint.
11)LaMontis Moore- leads Rutland in scoring with 18 points a game.
10)Jai'Kez Mann- Yes I know I head to another private school but this guy was Rutlands best player last year and for some reason ended up at Windsor. I don't have anything against Windsor, but the schedule is not overly challenging. Still Mann can play, going for 15 points a game while having to share the ball with many other scorers. We will get a great sense of how good Windsor is because they meet up with Stratford this Saturday.
9)Adam Leverett- Poor Adam Leverett having to play on a team that plays hard every game but just does not have the talent that other public schools in Macon have. It is sad that De Sales cannot compete in any sport anymore, but Leverett is going for 20 or so points a game and deserves a top 10 ranking in Macon.
8)Jimmy Marshall-Tattnall Squares big man has got to step it up and I believe he will Tuesday against FPD. Marshall was dominating early in the season and he was challenging the top five, but the last time I saw him he was quiet. I expect him to move up after this week.
7)Armaun Smith- He is FPDS best player and they need him to play well. He is a 13 point per game scorer and the Vikings most consistent threat.
6)Marquise Jackson- He does it all for Windsor and he is averaging 14 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals a game, which just about fills a stat sheet up. Once again, he is a GISA player and I cant wait to see what he can do against Stratford.
5)Nate Brooks- Stratford is probably the most physically imposing kid in the bunch but he is terribly inconsistent. I saw the Tattnall game last week and he played hard and hit some shots and for Stratford to turn the corner he has to be THE man . I believe he can do it, but needs the energy all the time.
4)Calvin Slaughter- the Tattnall senior has moved way up the list in the last two weeks but playing consistently good basketball against good competition. I am looking forward to seeing what he will do against FPD, where they will need his to continue his strong play.
3)Aaron Ridley from Southwest - Love this kids work ethic and with everyone else gone from Southwest this guy is playing the best basketball of his career. He is putting up almost 22 points a game and 9 rebounds and is the only double figure scorer on the team, and it is a pretty good team.
2)Antarius McCoy- This Central team is not overly amazing but McCoy finds a way to win basketball games. He can drop the three and can get to the rim and he deserves to be ranked number two . He would be ranked number two even if a 6"11 kid was still in town.
1) Khavon Moore. The best player to come out of Macon since, wow I don't know. It has been a long time since Macon has seen anything like this kid or maybe they never have. I mean a 6'7 point guard who goes 20 and 10 and could go more, except he is unselfish. Go watch him.

Many players didn't make the list who could make the list. Sean Brown at Tattnall sticks out and I am sure I left some Central kids out. Don't be scared to tell me about it. That's what I need to hear. Do it on twitter or facebook or on here or hell text me at 478-394-1155. I need feedback because I want to put this out every week.

sports in macon

Basketball season is well underway, and I have been fortunate enough to see most of the better teams in the area so far. That includes Westside, Central, Stratford, Tattnall Square, Southwest,  and lets add Warner Robins to the crowd. I am sure I will see FPD, Rutland,Northeast, and Mount de Sales soon, maybe even tomorrow night if anyone is playing.
Now I know its early, but as usual the area seems to have some quality basketball teams. Westside has been able to lose a 6'11 guy and be better, I believe, because Khavon Moore, the best player in Macon and maybe the state, needs his room in the paint. He is a point guard but really plays every position on the floor. He is a major D1 guy and I believe he is visiting Florida this weekend.
Speaking of college interest, my question is where is it in this city? Sure Khavon is getting his because of all his AAU basketball but where is the rest. Central has Antarius McCoy, who may not me a D1 guy but he is definitely a college basketball player. His coach Andre Taylor agrees. I don't know if I have been more impressed with a kid that him. He has been a three shooter his entire career, but has turned into much more this year. He gets to the paint, guards the other teams best player, and is relied on to be the leader of a very good Central basketball team.
Stratford also seems to have a pretty good basketball team. I have not met the coach as of yet but I am sure that is coming soon. Nate Brooks leads the way for the Eagles, and he is a physical specimen, but I am hearing he has very few college choices right now. Cmon people, this is a college athlete, no doubt about it. Hopefully the interest will come later.
Tattnall has six seniors and knocked of Wilkinson County on Tuesday, which was one of the Trojans biggest wins in many years. Lets not forget that Wilkinson win state last year. I have seen Tattnall play three times this year , and were somewhat unimpressive for some of that time, but when Slaughter, Marshall, and big Sean get it going , they are pretty good. I expect noise in the region this year.
Warner Robins is by far the best team I have seen this year and you owe it to yourself to see Nelson Phillips at least once.
I must wrap up my fantasy football season by giving kudos out. I had loads of news people in the league, and after losing his first four games of the season Wes Blankenship ran the table and then beat ME in the super bowl to claim his first Papa Johns Championship trophy. I am still upset about losing to a former Wmaz guy.
I did not have to worry about my other news guys as Tucker Sargent, Luke Hetrick, Mason Prince and Brad Harrison captured participation trophies,
Let me know when your team plays and I will review them quickly
