here we go
The answer is yea, I enjoyed my month away from this blog.
I mean its not like I quit writing forever, but sometimes I need to step away and get things straight in my mind.
I also need to think about what and where this blog needs to go
I am sure it will always go back to high school.
Since I last posted Northside, Peach County, and Warner Robins all lost state championship games in football and UGA lost to Alabama in the SEC championship game.
I saw some things that made me blink twice when it comes to coaching decisions, but I am not going to sit here and mention a high school coach for doing something I disagree with. I could write an entire blog talking about Kirby Smart and his fake punt, which still makes me ill to this day.
Think about it, we lost to LSU because we lost all momentum when we tried a fake field goal. Kirby lets stay away from the fakes or at least not in those positions.
But all of that is long forgotten now after the debacle of a game the Dawgs played in the Sugar Bowl.
Imagine the fans who traveled all the way to New Orleans and the main reason wasn't to party, the main reason was to watch the Georgia Bulldogs whip Texas. Imagine all the UGA fans who stayed up late to watch the Dawgs.
It was over in the first 5 minutes .
It was obvious that Georgia was not interested in this game because all we could possibly do was improve our ranking to number 3.
Obviously number 3 was not good enough for the players and the coaching staff.
So why why why were the Dawgs so unmotivated for this game. I mean 3 isn't bad.
But 3 doesn't get a ring
3 doesn't get a trophy
3 doesn't get the praise that number 1 gets
Ladies and gentlemen, this is a number 1 type of world now and nothing else matters
At least not to the players and coaches of the University of Georgia.
I was at home watching the game and right away it was evident what kind of game this was going to be. We were not tackling anyone and we weren't defending anyone. Texas scores right away and Dawg fans were all like Ok this wont last long, we will answer that score with one of our own.
Shortly after it was 17-0. The list of mistakes goes on forever
Punters knee touches ground
Punter almost misses the football to the tune of an 11 yard punt
We fumble
We fumble again
Our 68% completion rate QB is missing high and missing low
More drops than we have ever seen
We score thanks to a running back that has basically been fourth string all year
Thank you Mr. Herrien for wanting to play
Dawgs down 20-7 at the half but it's ok we get the ball to start the second half. Its go time and this offense is ready now. We will wake up and win this game.
Nope not quite yet as we score nothing in the third quarter. Texas scores and its 28-7 and NOW ONLY NOW do we start to move the ball.
Garbage time scores you say ? Yep pretty much
28-21 final a terrible loss to a mediocre team, a team that made the mighty Dawgs look worse than mediocre
A reporter describes reactions in the locker room as not too upset
It was no more than an exhibition game. That word makes me cringe every time I hear it.
I hope all UGA fans who spent money or time remember that word for a long time.
Coach Smart you need to fix it and fix it fast.
Number 3 is worth playing for
especially when number one is still a dream.
Deandre Bakerm I hope you make a nice donation to the school who made you what you are and gave you a free trip to New orleans

Gutless performance. Dawgs too worried about tweeting their angst at the committee. This is on Coach Smart. Elite programs do not behave the way that UGA did.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope this was due to a young team that fell into the trappings of some success and the distractions of New Orleans. Reguardless, the coaching staff did not properly prepare these kids for these distractions and the possibility another team would want to make "bones" by beating them.
