you think its easy ?

Imagine starting a new job where most people had been there already and you were expected to come in and make things better immediately.
To make things worse, things maybe were not even as nice as the job you had before and to make matters worse, everyone liked you and now its totally different.
I mean you were brought in to maybe even take some of the other employees jobs, so that could cause some hard feelings.
That is exactly what many of our bright young kids from Macon are trying to do right now.
Does anyone know what I am talking about yet ?

I guess I will tell you just in case you haven't figured it out, and I will use examples for what I am talking about.
Football along with classes, is basically Sean Browns job right now. He is a freshman lineman at Kennesaw State and is a product of Tattnall Square Academy. Sean Brown is a likeably guy who walked around the Square with a big smile on his face. But now he has started another job and that is to be a difference maker at the college level. Kennesaw State is a nice place with a new football program and I am sure they are treating Sean well. But imagine having to leave all your friends and take on a lofty goal such as playing college football. Sean is a likeable guy but he is dealing with some guys that are maybe 4 to 5 years older than him and may not like him trying to come in and earn playing time.
That is what these young people, such as Sean, Ahmad Barron, Jimmy Marshall, Thomas McBride, Torian Bradley McSwain, and Qua Solomon are having to deal with  right now. They are walking on to college campuses with basically no friends and trying to find their way. These kids are not at major college programs and some of the places aren't as nice as the high schools they attended. Do you think Torian is looking at Saint Anslem and saying wow this is nicer than FPD. I seriously doubt it. But he has a dream of playing college football and if he had to go to Massachusetts to do it, then so be it.
I have talked to a few of these guys this week and I have heard of a couple of injuries, a little homesickness, and a lot of , you know its really hard but I'm gonna get through it. I haven't heard any complaining and the one constant I have heard is , I wanna make my parents and coaches and Macon proud of me . I want to succeed.
So when you sit down during football season and watch UGA or Tech or Southern, or whoever is your team, think of these kids from Macon who are trying to make a name at the smaller schools. Click on ESPN and see how Kennesaw, or Reinhardt, or Mercer, or Mars Hill are doing and look for these kids names. Hell even look for damn Saint Anslem.
They deserve it.

  1. When you love a sport, you just want to play. Give them a field and throw out a ball and GO! Nothing better than that for a young person.
