Its that time of year
The time where every high school football team is undefeated with high hopes for the year, and every fan thinking this is the year for a state championship. All of the coaches use terms as "we just want to get better every time we practice" or "we are much stronger this year" or maybe even my favorite line "We are cautiously optimistic about our football team". That usually means it could be a long year.
I admit that I don't know a lot about anyone yet, but I assure you over the next 14 weeks I will know all of the standouts in the Middle Georgia area. I am excited about seeing Dalton Cox and "Viking Air Lines" throw the ball all over the field. I am anxious to see another Mark Fariba team play hard every minute, however I am thinking a few of the breakout guys this year are on that team. I hope that Keith Hatcher can finally get things turned around and have Mount de Sales compete with the big boys in private school. And finally can Tattnall possibly have another dream season with a dream coaching staff once again, but having lost Big Sean Brown, Jimmy Marshall, and the wonder kid Ahmad Barron.
Hopefully we have many other interesting stories this year. Southwest and Joe Dupree has a veteran QB in Jordan Slocum and they want to take the next step after making the playoffs a year ago. Central wants to show that they are better off with Larry Harold as the new coach and I have heard good things about the way things are going. Westside with Spoon Risper and from what I hear a red hot young quarterback will be much better than last year and I expect noise from Northeast, because new coach Ashley Harden just refuses to be a whipping boy to anyone.
I hear CFCA is playing 8 man football and I know Covenant has a veteran qb while Windsor had a new coach.
Makes for interesting stuff.
I honestly cant tell you where I will be this year , but I will be around high school football somewhere. I am not a homer, although I get called that all the time. I try and write about interesting things that are happening. Last year Tattnall was the story and everyone called me a Tattnall homer. The year before I was a Stratford homer because they were winning at everything. I am not a homer, I just want people to read what I write lol.
Macon will be blessed again with great coverage of all high school football. The Telegraph will continue to fight the good fight with a smaller staff that ever, and WMAZ will continue to blast out great high school coverage with Marv, and Jonathan while WGXA is on their heals with Luke and Mason , and Tucker from WMGT will cover everything he can.
Feel free to say hi and thanks to all of us. Its going to be a great ride this year
Kosater for WMAZ Football Friday Night!
