my longest break

One thing for sure is true and that is that I have not blogged in forever.
I guess I have my reasons, including overall laziness, overall too busy, overall a case of stress, and overall just too many things going on around me. I cant promise right now that this wont be my last blog ever or I cant promise I will blog again tomorrow. Life is full of not knowing isn't it ?
So what has gone on since I blogged last ?
Well I am barely a writer anymore because the people I used to write for doesn't really cover local sports anymore. To say that I miss covering local sports would be a huge understatement. I mean I think I am suffering from some major depression here and I miss seeing my coaching and playing friends tremendously. I don't know what will ever change with who I used to write for, but I surely hope I can find some sort of outlet to satisfy my need to write.
I have probably answered the question at least 100 times about what happened to local sports coverage. I have no answer to that. I still am added to things I used to cover and now receive no coverage at all. I have missed the baseball season with Mercer and high school season, and I have missed the Cherry Blossom golf tournament. I missed the magical Mercer women's ride and I missed most of the high school coaches in Macon leaving. Yes it has been very difficult for me.
Lately I have also been exploring ways to stay active with one of my passions, which is, you guessed it, writing. I am ready for a change from my job of 32 plus years and do something that I enjoy. We will wait and see if that comes to fruition. I have irons in the fire, but I need to see if the fires will make enough smoke to keep it going. If it doesn't I will just continue to do what I do and make the best of it.
I am sure that some of my 26 or so readers will already know that I am driving UBER once in awhile and it is  mostly on the weekend. I have had so many people ask why the heck I am doing that, and I have had a few more ask me if I was really that cash strapped. I would answer those questions by saying that I actually enjoy meeting new people, all who have different stories to tell in the matter of a 10 to 15 minute car ride. It is true that some don't talk, but I will promise you that most people are talkers. I am a talker so this is like therapy for me. I describe it as a hobby to me.
As far as the cash strapped part, well I am not cash strapped at all. Do I like money ? Yes I do and this gives me a few extra bucks. I do it because its fun, not because I have to and if I don't feel like doing it I don't do it. ITs very simple like that.
Okay I know you all want to hear one UBER story because everyone does. I picked up these two extremely intoxicated females at maybe 2:00 am on a Saturday night and they got in the car and immediately started telling me that they would give me 20 extra dollars because they were going to Warner Robins. I didn't want to do it, but money sometimes is a motivator, so I did it. One drunk was in the front and one was in the back. The lady in the back asked me three times if she could smoke and I told her no every time. A minute later a cigarette was lit. The front girl seat smelled it, turned around and started screaming at back seat girl and then slapped her in the face. Back street girl started screaming and cursing at her and they yelled at each other for a good five minutes.
I guess this would be chapter two. IN a few more minutes both girls were asleep as we went by the airport. Back seat girl woke up and asked where we were and I said almost home. She started yelling at me saying this wasn't the way to home and that I was kidnapping them and started begging me not to kill her. Front seat girl woke up, turned around and slapped the girl again, which led to them fighting. again. Five minutes later all was calm.
I will end this story by telling you that they had put in the wrong address to get home and neither one of them could find their house. Finally one of the said stop that's my house and I let them out. They went to the front door and tried to open it but quickly realized that wasn't the right house. As I left they were sitting in the yard trying to figure out what to do.
Wasn't that fun ?
Look if this is it for me I want to thank my readers and everyone who has added contributions to my blog. I feel good about it, but this may well be the last.
Unless I feel like writing tomorrow.
Love everyone
John

  1. Macon Telegraph isn't learning that no local sports means no local sports readers. I am finding the EXTRA on the online paper is better than the local paper. Don't forget to check in with your old friends. They often have new stories.
